GroundsWell Community Reporter Training

Do you…

➥ Live in Edinburgh, Belfast or Liverpool?

➥ Want to develop your skills to research and tell stories?

➥ Have an interest in your local parks, gardens, rivers or outdoor spaces

➥ Want to see your work published in a professionally designed print magazine?

If so, you’re invited to apply for the GroundsWell Community Reporter Programme.

About the project

GroundsWell is a research project bringing together communities, researchers and decision-makers to understand how urban green and blue spaces – like parks, gardens, rivers and canals – can play a role in reducing health inequalities.

As part of this work, GroundsWell publishes a community-led magazine that gives space to the voices of people directly involved in grassroots projects. The upcoming issue will be the third magazine in the series, building on the stories and voices featured in previous editions.

You can read Issue 1 here and Issue 2 here.

What this course offers

This free, online six-week training programme supports participants to develop original stories about their communities and the work happening around the green and blue spaces within them.

You’ll work with experienced journalists and storytellers from Greater Community Media to shape your ideas, carry out interviews, and turn your etrxperiences into stories that can be shared widely.

The programme is designed to be supportive, collaborative and accessible. You don’t need any previous experience of journalism — just curiosity, commitment, and an interest in your community and urban green and blue spaces.

All selected participants will:

➥ Receive training and support from journalism professionals
➥ Have their work edited and published in GroundsWell magazine
➥ Receive a certificate of completion

The training will take place online
from 6–7:30pm on the following Tuesdays:
